Most modern short-bed trucks will not be able to close the tailgate unless the bike is small enough. For precise fit information, see our offset charts below for the Telescopic Crossbar and Utility Track.

You may also be able to close your tailgate if you mount your bike with the rear wheel and turn the front wheel to the side. If your tailgate needs to stay down, our Tailgate Boss can keep it from bouncing when transporting.

Yes, all our locks will be keyed alike when purchased together.

ESTIMATED WEIGHT CAPACITY

The following Estimated Weight Capacity applies to the standalone QR3 rack system. Actual capacity may vary depending on driving conditions, vehicle compatibility, and bicycle specifications. Because every vehicle and bicycle setup is different, it is essential to evaluate stability after installation. Load your bike(s) onto the rack and confirm that everything is secure before driving. QR3 with Crossbar

• One Station – One bicycle up to 60 lbs. (For heavier bikes, see note below.)
• Two Stations – Two bicycles up to 55 lbs. each (For heavier bikes, see note below.)​
• Three Stations – Three bicycles up to 45 lbs. each / 55 lbs. per bike with additional Center Support (see note below.)
• Four Stations – Four bicycles up to 35 lbs. each / 55 lbs. per bike with additional Center Support (see note below.)

Heavier Bikes
If your bike exceeds the recommended weight limit, RIDE88 offers Tie-Downs and Tie-Down Anchors, as well as a Center Support to improve load stability.

Yes most bikes work great installed backwards however some small BMX bikes may not.​ Long fenders on the back wheel may also prevent the arm from closing. See "Will the rack work with fenders?" FAQ below for details.

Some fenders extend too far to work with our compression arm. The upper arm that presses against the tire is not intended to press against fenders. See our fender chart below. If you are not sure if it will work with your bike please contact us and we will help you determine if it will fit or not.

15"-21" from the truck bed floor to the center of where the rack clamp on to the bar is a good range. 16.5" Is about ideal. If the mounting goes lower the rack will lift off the bed floor when installing some wheel sizes. However, that is still an acceptable function of the rack.

Yes, and the QR3 rack folds down out of the way. We suggest soft roll-up covers, or for folding covers and bulkier roll-ups the racks need to move back from the cab a few inches. Options are shown in this quick video: Installation Options
